As this Thursday dawned, there was a stirring at talkToshiba – for a whole batch of shiny new Toshiba laptops have arrived at our doorstep, with the only brief being to ‘send them out into the wild.’

That’s because we at talkToshiba are particularly keen to hear your opinions on the laptops that we are featuring on the blog everyday. Whether you be a blogger, regular forum poster or particularly active within the Social Media, we’d like to send you one of our laptops for three weeks to have a good play with. Or perhaps your current laptop is broken and you need a replacement?

All we ask in return is that you post or blog about the notebook during the trial, and let your readers know what you think – good or bad.

Et pour un test complet du Qosmio G40, ne cherchez pas plus loin que ce garçon… Il y a quelques semaines, nous avons approché Barbie, un roadie à ses heures perdues ; en fait, il a fait toutes sortes de métiers (si vous ne me croyez pas, regardez sa page “A propos de l’auteur”). Le résultat est un test spectaculaire qui couvre tout sur la bête, de son aversion pour Microsoft Vista à la qualité de l’écran. Une de ses conclusions : « Tout compte fait, je ne recommanderais pas le Qosmio G4 comme un véritable ordinateur portable. Cependant comme un centre multimédia ou une machine haut de gamme pour jeux vidéo dernier cri, il s’en sort beaucoup mieux ». Mais son blog est truffé de tellement plus d’infos que je vous suggère d’y faire un tour.

And for an extensive review of the Qosmio G40, look no further than this next chap… A few weeks ago we approached Barbie, a sometime roadie and previous occupant of almost any career you can imagine (if you don’t believe me, check his about page) – to review the Toshiba Qosmio G40 – the result being a spectacular essay which covers everything from his dislike of Microsoft Vista, to the quality of the screen. One of his conclusions “All in all I wouldn’t recommend this as portable laptop. As a Media Centre or a high-end games machine, then it fairs much better.” – but there’s so much more than this to review, I suggest you head over and read it.

Whilst this isn’t the most recent write up of Toshiba’s Qosmio G45, Rory Reid brings us some great pictures of the pertinent aspects of the machine. There are some good close up shots of the controls and the speakers that give you an idea of the quality and also the size of the machine.

Alongside the pictures is a mini review, from which the Qosmio comes out very well. Rory says that Toshiba have done ‘a very good job from an aesthetic point of view’, with the glossy black lid and the shiny white veneer on the inside being helped by the ‘gallons of blue LED lighting’. The Harmon Kardon hardware gets the thumbs up, with the five separate speakers coming out ‘louder than your Dad’s IBM’.

Zitat: “…<<für die hochaufgelöste Zukunft bestens gerüstet>> Mit HD- DVD? Glaub ich nicht. Blu Ray lässt grüßen…”; weiter im Zitat: “…Notbook für die Zukunft gerüstet ist besteht kein Zweifel, aber ob nun wirklich sich die HD- DVD als Zukunftsmedium behandelt wird, bezweifle ich sehr, denn ich bin der Meinung das die Blue- Ray- Disk das Rennen macht, wegen des höheren Speichers. Matthias Bauer von der notebookcheck-Redaktion berichtet über die erste HD DVD-RW Ausstattung, die erstmals jetzt im Toshiba Qosmio G40 möglich ist. Zitat:”… Toshiba updatet sein Qosimo G40. In diesem wird zum ersten mal ein einem Notebook ein HD DVD-RW Laufwerk verbaut. Ansonsten verfügt das G40 über ein 17″ Display mit WUXGA Auflösung und einen Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 Prozessor mit 2.2GHz.
