Nachdem das Toshiba Satellite P300-17N, bei Test von Chip.de sehr gut weggekommen ist und für sein Spitzen-Design zum kleinen Preis gelobt wurde, schien der leistungsstärkere Kollege, das Toshiba Satellite P300-17C, nicht so sehr zu überzeugen. Es wurde bei pcwelt.de getestet.

Das Design wurde wieder positiv hervorgehoben:

Schon beim ersten Eindruck kann das Toshiba-Notebook Pluspunkte sammeln: Sein Design gefällt mit einer unauffälligen Musterung.

Aber da es auf Grund der besseren Ausstattung (T8100 Prozessor, 500GB Festplatte, 4 GB RAM und besserer Grafikkarte …) auch gleich in eine andere Preisklasse gefallen ist, ca. 1180€, wurden auch andere Anforderungen gestellt denen es so nicht gerecht werden konnte. Es fehlte an der Mobilität und der Leistungsfähigkeit der Grafikkarte für die neuen Computerspiele, deshalb musste es sich auch mit 42 Punkten abfinden. Hier gelangt ihr zum Test.

Da muss wahrscheinlich jeder für sich abwägen, was er von einem Notebook erwartet. In der Satellite P300 Serie gibt es ja in fast jeder Preisklasse ein Modell. Eine Übersicht findet ihr hier bei Toshiba.

Daniel Gonzales has posted up a review of the Toshiba Satellite A305D – S6835, recommending it as “a budget-friendly laptop that breezes through all your common computing tasks”.

Daniel’s a big fan of the laptops “elegant and polished chassis” while its “bold, fresh lines and glossy, metallic blue finish make other laptops look pale in comparison”. The 15.4” WXGA TruBrite display “makes watching movies and playing games an experience to remember” yet he finds that the A305D is still easy to carry around due to its weight of 6 pounds. The performance gets “two thumbs up” after which Daniel goes in to detail on the 2.2GHz processor which ensures a smooth running system even when running multiple resource-hungry applications.

Concluding that the Satellite A305 “offers you so much at a good price”, Daniel suggests the reader consider it as a potential next laptop as “you’ll be endeared by it immediately”. Check out the full review at TigerDirect News.

Genau vor einer Woche habe ich euch von Get The Disk berichtet und jetzt wurden die Festplatten, um die es bei dem Spiel geht, auch offiziell in Deutschland vorgestellt.

InsideHW have got their hands on a Toshiba Satellite A300D-125 and reviewer Sasa Pantelic sums it up in two words – “dazzle everywhere”.

Though he is impressed by the shiny black “so-called piano finish”, he finds it to be a bit of a “magnet for dust and fingerprints” but by the end of the test he’s used to it and isn’t too worried about it. Sasa also discovers the touchpad is “very precise” and the translucent LED strap on the edge “makes easy navigation in poor lighting conditions”. Another test in the form of bending the keyboard is performed, with Sasa finding that “bending was hardly noticeable, a very pleasant surprise for us”, as well as being pleased that the screen, though of average picture quality, has high brightness and contrast levels, making work “possible even under bright lighting conditions”.

Concluding, although they had some reservations, the final evaluation for the Toshiba Satellite was “satisfactory” and it is a “solid home multimedia device”. Head over to InsideHW for the full review.

“Toshiba have drafted in some of the world’s top designers and engineers to redress this situation and are attempting to make PC laptops a more desirable accessory rather than just a plain-Jane necessity” says Ryan of mightygadget.com in his first post about the Toshiba Take a Closer Look event - and plenty more besides.

You see Ryan has written an epic stream of consciousness tale not only of what happened at the beginnings of the event itself, but his thoughts on the evolution of laptops, what they say about the individual and exactly what happened in Paris those hazy couple of days. Remember when laptops were first unleashed to the public? Ryan does – “They were hideous, they weighed more than a home PC, if you used it as marketed, on your lap, it was strongly suggested that if you were male not to bother as those things we all cherish as men would disagree and possibly drop off.”

The buzz around the blogosphere continues around the release of Toshiba’s new Portégé M800.

Nick Mansell from Mobile Computer says that the ‘Toshiba production line rumbles on’ with the newest ‘all-white’ model. After listing the impressive spec, Nick goes on to say that the machine is due for release ‘sometime between July and September’ – although it debuts in France in June.

Funkyguy from The Earth Times goes even further with his praise, calling the pure white colour (rather predictably) ‘funky’ and adding that the ‘white LEDs further add to its charm’. He’s also a fan of the ‘silver accents’, as is Katie Scott from Pocket Lint if her images are anything to go by. She brings the full spec too, and promises more details as and when they are released.
